5/17/2016
Fulton, NY ? Patrick Dewine, executive director of the United Way of Greater Oswego County, has announced that Kalyn Duguay, campaign assistant, is the newest member of the United Way staff.
A recent graduate of SUNY Oswego, Duguay holds a Bachelor?s Degree in communications with a minor in business and has been serving an internship with United Way since September.? ?Duguay is pleased to have the opportunity to continue being a part of United Way.? ?I learned a lot during my internship,” said Duguay.?? ?I was aware of United Way, and as a teenager working at Wegman?s in Buffalo I would contribute to United Way, but I didn?t realize the amount of impact it has on the overall health of the communities it serves.? After witnessing this impact first hand I?m happy to be a part of an agency that does so much to bring about positive change in my community.? I consider it a privilege to be able to work for United Way of Greater Oswego County and know that the work that we do means so much to so many.??
As campaign assistant, Duguay will be working closely with United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath and Executive Director Patrick Dewine on all aspects of the agency?s annual campaign and special events, including the upcoming United Way Golf Tournament, the Stuff-A-Bus campaign, and the annual United Way Breakfast.
?Event planning has always been a passion for me,? said Duguay.? ?I was very involved with our Stone Soup Too luncheon in Fulton and I?m currently busy recruiting teams for the golf tournament, procuring sponsors, and collecting donations for the silent auction that is part of the tournament.?? Stone Soup Too was one of our most successful and the golf tournament is also receiving great support.? It?s rewarding to help put together events that are well received and enjoyed by those that attend. ?
Duguay will also be heavily involved with the United Way?s use of social media.? ?During my time as an intern we greatly expanded our social media presence on Facebook and other outlets such as Twitter and Instagram, which are vital when it comes to reaching young adults and educating them about United Way and the positive impact it has on our three core areas; ending hunger, helping children and youth succeed, and improving the health and well-being of families and individuals,? said Duguay
?Kalyn did a wonderful job as an intern and we are happy to have her as our new campaign assistant.? Her enthusiasm for the work that we do and her eagerness to do whatever it takes to achieve success will prove to be a welcome addition to our staff,” added McGrath.
