2016 Community Garden Volunteers

Fulton, NY – Employees of Liberty Mutual Insurance volunteered their time to help prepare the Fulton?s community gardens for the upcoming growing season through the ?Serve with Liberty? Program.? The program is a part of Liberty Mutual?s national workplace campaign in support of their local United Way.? Liberty Mutual recognizes local United Ways through payroll deduction and a company match.

To encourage participation and giving in the workplace each of office campaign includes the ?Serve with Liberty? program, which offers Liberty Mutual employees the opportunity to volunteer for community projects organized by different charities Liberty Mutual supports. This year the employees chose the Fulton Community Garden Project.

?This year we partnered with Catholic Charities to prepare the community gardens for planting,? said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath.? ?We were fortunate to have six volunteers from Liberty Mutual join us to clean and weed the gardens.? They did a great job and the gardens are ready for the season!? Located at John Lincoln Park, the Fulton Community Garden Project offers Fulton City residents the opportunity to have their own garden bed to grow vegetables, herbs, or flowers. This year?s garden contains 24 individual garden beds that are available for human service agencies and community members to plant, care for and harvest.

For information on the Fulton Community Garden, or to apply for a garden bed, contact Tim Archer at Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 315-598-3980.
