Fulton, NY – The 22nd Annual United Way of Greater Oswego County Golf Tournament is welcoming major sponsorship from strong community supporters again this year, including Exelon Generation, Novelis, National Grid, and Burritt Motors. Participating golfers will have the chance to drive away a new car courtesy of Burritt Motors? Hole-in-One contest. It?s one of the many on-course games that are a part of the tournament that will be held July 10h at the Oswego County Club. The tournament will offer tee times of 8:00 a.m., which includes breakfast and lunch, and 2:00 p.m., which offers lunch and dinner courtesy of food sponsors Eagle Beverage, MassMutual Investment Services, and Avery Rental Properties. DSS Event Benefits United WayFulton, NY ? Staff, family, and friends of the Oswego County Department of Social Services (DSS) gathered to show their support for one of Oswego County?s most vital agencies, United Way, as they participated in the 7th Annual DSS Spring Fling Bowl-a-Thon at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton.

The DSS employee bowl-a-thon raised more than $934 in support of United Way.? ?This year?s Spring Fling featured a Fiesta theme and hosted 7 teams and 34 bowlers as well many more that joined us to watch the fun,? said John Ferry, coordinator of Child Support Enforcement at DSS. ?”Thank you to all the bowlers and community members that came out to support the event, especially the DSS Hospitality group and our United Way fundraising staff that helped to organize the event.?

Ferry added that DSS staff recognizes the positive impact that United Way has in Oswego County. ?Several?of our partner?agencies rely on the United Way to help fund the many programs that are so important to our family, friends, & neighbors.? We at DSS support the United Way because we see the tremendous need here in our community and know that the United Way and its partner agencies are critical to the success of our community.?

Shineman Foundation Board Member Kathy Fenlon (l) welcomes United Way of Greater Oswego County Resource Development Director Ali McGrath (r) to the Leadership Oswego County class of 2017 / 2018. Offered through SUNY Oswego?s Office of Business and Community Relations, the program explores community trusteeship, leadership skills, current issues and networking to a diverse group of community residents. Leadership Oswego County prepares these residents to become the community stewards of the future. The group embarks on a nine-month course on Oswego County, its resources, countywide vital issues, and the skills needed to become community trustees. Graduates of the program are better prepared to serve the community in the roles of board member, citizen, employee or volunteer with organizations that serve Central New York. ?I?m excited about being a part of Leadership Oswego County,? said McGrath. ?It?s a great opportunity for me to meet tomorrow?s leaders and learn more about the community that I love.? United Way to Tee off July 10Fulton, NY ? The weather is warmer and the grass is green; it?s time to add the United Way of Greater Oswego County?s Annual Golf Tournament to your golf calendar!

One of Central New York?s most anticipated and largest golf tournaments, the United Way?s Annual Golf Tournament will be held Monday, July 10th. The tournament will once again be hosted by the county?s most prestigious private golf course, the Oswego County Club.

Now in its 22nd year the United Way?s Annual Golf Tournament has offered the opportunity for participating companies and community members to enjoy a fun day of golf while supporting one of the county?s most impactful agencies, the United Way.

United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath said the planning committee is busy putting together another strong golf tournament with some new additions.? ?This year?s tournament will feature all the fun and on course challenges you?ve come to expect; longest and straightest drives, chipping and putting contests, and closest to the pin. To add to the on course fun there will be some new and exciting twists to the drawings, prizes, silent auction, the ?goodie bags? that each golfer receives, and other surprises,? said McGrath.

The United Way Golf Tournament offers two flights of golf, an 8:00 a.m. tee off and a 2:00 p.m. tee off.? Registration for all different team sponsorship levels for the four person captain and crew teams includes: golf cart, goodie bag, breakfast, snacks, and a chicken and steak lunch for the morning flight; Sandwiches, snacks and a chicken and steak dinner for the afternoon flight. Additional amenities may be included depending on sponsorship level.

The United Way is pleased to see the returning support of its major sponsors.? To date major sponsors of this year?s United Way Golf Tournament include Burritt Motors, Exelon Generation, National Grid and Novelis.

National Grid Supports United Way CampaignFulton, NY– The employees of National Grid recently completed their workplace campaign in support of the United Way of Greater Oswego County.? Employee donations of more than $4,000, combined with a corporate match from National Grid, resulted in a $9,708 donation to United Way?s 2016-2017 Annual Campaign. National Grid annually supports United Way through its workplace campaign that allows employees to donate and/or volunteer their time for a worthy cause.? National Grid has been a United Way partner for several years and is a major sponsor for the Annual United Way Golf Tournament.

?Walter Dengos, community and customer manager for National Grid is a great advocate for us as a member of our Board of Directors? said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath. ?National Grid?s involvement with us has been a large support system throughout the years. We would not be able to help individuals and families in the community without the help of companies like National Grid.?

In addition to the donation for United Way?s annual campaign Dengos presented McGrath with a second check for $2,500 to benefit the Annual United Way Golf Tournament. National Grid is one of the major sponsors of this year?s tournament, which will be held Monday, July 10 at the Oswego County Club.

Fulton Lion's Club Donates $500 To United Way?s Stone SoupFULTON, NY ? The Fulton Lions Club recently donated $500 to the Stone Soup fundraiser for local food pantries, sponsored by the United Way of Greater Oswego County, ?(UWGOC), it was announced by President David Guyer. ?The Fulton Lions Club has contributed to this project for a number of years,? Guyer said. ?It is of vital importance that we all pull together to support our local food pantries and the clients they serve.?

This year?s event, held April 11, at Holy Trinity Parish in Fulton, had soup donated from Blue Moon Grill, Tavern on the Lock, Mimi?s Drive-In, and the Foursome Diner, said Ali McGrath, UWGOC resource development director. Other supporters were Davis Brothers, C?s Market, Red Baron, Springside at Seneca Hill, Kathy?s Cakes, Sweet Cindy?s Gluten Free Bakery, Dunkin? Donuts, and Kinney Drugs.

All proceeds benefit food pantries at the Hannibal Resource Center, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, and the Salvation Army.

United Way Brings ?Stone Soup Too? Luncheon to FultonFulton, NY ? United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its annual Stone Soup Too community luncheon April 11 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. ??Hosted by Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo Street in Fulton, the United Way?s annual ?Stone Soup Too? luncheon helps to raise awareness of hunger in Oswego County and encouraging the community to help fill the shelves of local food pantries.

?Thanks to the efforts we receive from our volunteers and committee members, and the support we receive from the community who return year after year to enjoy great food and fellowship, our Stone Soup Too luncheons have had a positive impact on food pantries in Oswego County.? I invite community members to come together with friends and enjoy a delicious lunch of ?Stone Soup? while helping support others in need,? said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath.

To date a number of caring local businesses have come forward to donate the food and beverages necessary for the Stone Soup Luncheon.? Soups will be provided by: Mimi?s Drive-In, Blue Moon Grill, The Foursome Dinner, and Tavern on the Lock.? Completing the menu will be ?Boxes of Joe? from Dunkin? Donuts; salad fixings from C?s Farms & Davis Brothers; rolls and butter from Red Baron; water from Kinney?s Drugs; and desserts courtesy of Springside at Seneca Hill and Kathy?s Cakes.? An assortment of canned soups donated by Top?s Friendly Market will be displayed as centerpieces, and later donated with the rest of the nonperishable food items.

?We are also welcoming Sweet Cindy?s Gluten Free Bakery to this year?s luncheon.? Located 55 West First St. South in Fulton, Cindy?s offers an assortment of fresh baked goods from breads and cookies to cinnamon rolls, and more.? Cindy?s is donating a basket of goodies that will be raffled off during the luncheon,? added McGrath.

The United Way?s ?Stone Soup Too? Luncheon is open to the public and will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 11 at Holy Trinity Parish.? The United Way is accepting donations of $5 per person.? Attendees are also encouraged to please bring a donation of non-perishable food items. United Way Honors Huhtamaki?s Nick HabelFulton, NY ? Nick Habel, human resources manager for Huhtamaki in Fulton, was recently honored as the United Way Campaign Coordinator Volunteer of the Year at the United Way of Greater Oswego County?s Salute to Volunteers and Leadership Giving Luncheon Habel was recognized for his role as Company Campaign Coordinator for Huhtamaki?s employee campaign in support of United Way.

As campaign coordinator Habel shares the mission of United Way with his co-workers at Huhtamaki.? Through personal meetings with every department and shift change, Habel conveys the United Way?s effort to provide the basic needs to families and individuals throughout Oswego County and the impact United Way has on ending hunger, helping youth succeed, and building healthier communities.

?For the past 13 years Nick has been telling the story of United Way and inspiring Huhtamaki employees to lend their support,? said United Way Board Member Clark Stanton.? ?During his tenure as company campaign coordinator Huhtamaki employees have donated more than $223,000 to United Way.? Additionally, Nick advocated on behalf of United Way of Greater Oswego County to procure a company match from Huhtamaki North America.? His efforts have resulted in a combined donation of almost half a million dollars during that time to United Way.? While each campaign has its unique challenges, Nick keeps the best interest of his community at heart.? His loyalty, dedication and commitment to United Way is commendable.?

To be held April 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo Street in Fulton, United Way?s Stone Soup Too Luncheon will feature a variety of soups, salad and dessert, provided by local restaurants and small businesses.?? The Community Luncheon serves as a fundraiser for area food pantries and a way to raise awareness of United Way?s goal of ending hunger in Oswego County.

The Stone Soup Too Luncheon is open to the public. United Way will be accepting donations of $5 per person at the door and attendees are encouraged to please bring a donation of non-perishable food items. There will also be a number of drawings and door prizes during the luncheon.?
