Oswego Rotary Club Supports Stuff-A-Bus Campaign

107Oswego, NY ? The Oswego Rotary Club has joined area businesses and organizations in collecting back to school items in support of United Way?s Annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign. Rotary recently held a ?Bring a Backpack Day? to help the Stuff-A-Bus campaign meet the need for backpacks. ?When members of the Stuff-A-Bus planning committee mentioned they never seem to have enough backpacks, I thought that would be a great item for us to help with,? said Susan C. Witmer, Oswego Rotary president and director of operations at Cayuga Community College ? Fulton Campus. ?One of the areas of focus through the District 7150 of Rotary International is Special Needs Groups and I?ve chosen to focus on the needy children in Oswego County and more specifically the Stuff-a-Bus campaign. We followed our backpack collection day with a general school supply collection the following week as each member donated additional school supplies. Both of our collection days were very successful and I appreciate the support we received from our membership,? added Witmer. The Annual Stuff-a-Bus campaign community collection day will be held August 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. School buses will be at the following sites to accept donations of school supplies from pens and pencils to notebooks and backpacks – Wal-Mart on Route 49 in Central Square – Wal-Mart on Route 104 in Oswego – Wal-Mart on Route 3 in Granby – Kinney Drugs at 3318 Main Street in Mexico – Kinney Drugs at 3873 Rome Road in Pulaski – Kinney Drugs at 17 South 1st Street in Fulton – The Hannibal Village Market IGA, Route 3 in Hannibal – Fulton Savings Bank parking lot, Route 57 in Phoenix Made possible through a partnership with United Way, school districts throughout Oswego County, and more than 20 business and organizations, the Stuff-A-Bus Campaign seeks to collect donations of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County so that they will have the supplies they need to begin the school year.
