August 9th, 2013
Oswego, NY ? The Oswego Rotary Club has joined area businesses and organizations in collecting back to school items in support of United Way?s Annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign. Rotary recently held a ?Bring a Backpack Day? to help the Stuff-A-Bus campaign meet the need for backpacks. ?When members of the Stuff-A-Bus planning committee mentioned they never seem to have enough backpacks, I thought that would be a great item for us to help with,? said Susan C. Witmer, Oswego Rotary president and director of operations at Cayuga Community College ? Fulton Campus. ?One of the areas of focus through the District 7150 of Rotary International is Special Needs Groups and I?ve chosen to focus on the needy children in Oswego County and more specifically the Stuff-a-Bus campaign. We followed our backpack collection day with a general school supply collection the following week as each member donated additional school supplies. Both of our collection days were very successful and I appreciate the support we received from our membership,? added Witmer.
