The Clubhouse Tavern Receives United Way Spirit of Community AwardFulton, NY ? United Way of Greater Oswego County recently recognized Robert and Liz McGrath, owners of The Clubhouse Tavern in Oswego, with its Spirit of Community Award at the organization?s Salute to Volunteers and Leadership Giving Luncheon held March 16th at The American Foundry in Oswego. ?The award is presented to an organization or individual that demonstrates unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in Oswego County.

?Robert and Liz exemplify the meaning of what it is to be a small business in our community,” said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath.? ?In many ways the theme of their back story mirrors what the mission of United Way is all about?the opportunity to build a good life. ?While raising two children and working full time they attended business classes at night and worked a third job on the weekends, all in the hope of providing a better life for their family.? And whether they were succeeding or struggling they always saw an opportunity to help someone else. It?s their hard work, long days and compromises that propels their partnership with United Way.? They support United Way in the hopes that another family in our community might have it a little bit easier than the last.? Their commitment to United Way and their community is inspiring.? They truly reflect the essence of our Spirit of the Community Award.?
