Fulton, NY ? United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its annual Stone Soup Too community luncheon April 11 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. ??Hosted by Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo Street in Fulton, the United Way?s annual ?Stone Soup Too? luncheon helps to raise awareness of hunger in Oswego County and encouraging the community to help fill the shelves of local food pantries.
?Thanks to the efforts we receive from our volunteers and committee members, and the support we receive from the community who return year after year to enjoy great food and fellowship, our Stone Soup Too luncheons have had a positive impact on food pantries in Oswego County.? I invite community members to come together with friends and enjoy a delicious lunch of ?Stone Soup? while helping support others in need,? said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath.
To date a number of caring local businesses have come forward to donate the food and beverages necessary for the Stone Soup Luncheon.? Soups will be provided by: Mimi?s Drive-In, Blue Moon Grill, The Foursome Dinner, and Tavern on the Lock.? Completing the menu will be ?Boxes of Joe? from Dunkin? Donuts; salad fixings from C?s Farms & Davis Brothers; rolls and butter from Red Baron; water from Kinney?s Drugs; and desserts courtesy of Springside at Seneca Hill and Kathy?s Cakes.? An assortment of canned soups donated by Top?s Friendly Market will be displayed as centerpieces, and later donated with the rest of the nonperishable food items.
?We are also welcoming Sweet Cindy?s Gluten Free Bakery to this year?s luncheon.? Located 55 West First St. South in Fulton, Cindy?s offers an assortment of fresh baked goods from breads and cookies to cinnamon rolls, and more.? Cindy?s is donating a basket of goodies that will be raffled off during the luncheon,? added McGrath.
The United Way?s ?Stone Soup Too? Luncheon is open to the public and will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 11 at Holy Trinity Parish.? The United Way is accepting donations of $5 per person.? Attendees are also encouraged to please bring a donation of non-perishable food items. All proceeds and food donations from the luncheon will be used to support area food pantries including Catholic Charities of Oswego County, Salvation Army of Oswego County, and the Hannibal Resource Center Food Pantry.
?It?s always a challenge for our food pantries to keep its shelves filled and meet the demand for food subsidy in Oswego County.? The food collected, and the money raised at our ?Stone Soup Too? Luncheon will be greatly appreciated.?
