United Way Golf Classic to Tee Off July 15th

June 24th, 2013

104Fulton, NY ? The United Way of Greater Oswego County?s Annual Golf Classic is looking to be bigger and better than ever this year. Scheduled July 15th, the event will be held at the Oswego County Club.

According to United Way Resource Development Director Lois Luber, this year?s event will build upon the excitement generated from the 2012 Golf Classic. ?The move to the Oswego County Club last year breathed a new life into the event. We received overwhelmingly positive responses from everyone involved in last year?s golf classic and have made a few changes that allow us to accommodate the increased demand for teams. This year?s Golf Classic will offer two flights of golf, an 8:00 a.m. tee off and a 2:00 p.m. tee off, so that we are able to host field to up to 50 teams,? said Luber.

According to Planning Committee Chairperson, John Nelson of the Nelson Funeral Home, the committee has worked diligently to make this year?s United Way Annual Golf Classic the best ever. “We are excited about having Oswego County Club host our tournament once again. We have reduced the amount of teams per flight to ensure quick play. The United Way Golf classic is an excellent opportunity for people to gather and support the United Way while enjoying a round of golf on one of New York’s finest private courses, said Nelson.”

The outing will once again feature a captain and crew format with teams of 4 golfers. A team registration includes: golf with carts for 4 people, a steak lunch or dinner, beverages, golf shirt, and an opportunity to win an automobile at the hole-in-one contest sponsored by Burritt Motors of Oswego.

There will also be raffles, a silent auction, a putting contest, skins competition, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin and more.

Luber added that there are still a limited number of sponsorship opportunities for those interested in being a part of the United Way Golf Classic including; corporate foursome sponsorships and hole sponsorships. United Way is also accepting items for the silent auction, which takes place immediately following the tournament, for businesses that would like to lend their support at that level.
