United Way Stone Soup Luncheon Celebrates 11 Years of Fighting Hunger

United Way Stone Soup CommitteeFulton, NY ? With a focus on its impact area of ending hunger United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its 11th?Annual Stone Soup Luncheon November 3rd at St. Joseph?s Parish Center, 240 West First Street in Oswego from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Now in its second decade the United Way Stone Soup Luncheon has raised more than $14,000 and collected countless boxes of non-perishable foods to help fill the shelves of area food pantries and help feed thousands of hungry families and individuals in Oswego County.

?It?s heartwarming to realize the amount of support we continue to receive for our Stone Soup Luncheon,? said United Way Resource Development Director Ali McGrath.? ?Thanks to donations from a number of local restaurants and businesses we?ve put together delicious menu for this year?s Stone Soup Luncheon including soups from The American Foundry, Greene?s Ale House, Canale?s Restaurant, Vona?s Restaurant, The Press Box, and the Oswego Country Club.?

Additional menu items include homemade rolls from Bosco?s, salad and fixings from C? Farms and Davis Brothers, coffee from Dunkin Donuts, water compliments of Kinney Drugs, and sauce from Giovanni Foods.

Open to the public, the United Way Stone Soup Luncheon will once again be held at St. Joseph?s Parish Center, 240 West First Street in Oswego from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.? United Way will be accepting a donation of $5.00 per person and those attending are urged to bring a donation of non-perishable food items.? ?To complement these food donations the Oswego Lions Club has once again provided us with a generous donation of $1,000 to purchase additional food items to fill pantry shelves throughout Oswego County,? added McGrath.

Those unable to attend the luncheon but would like to make a donation may contact the United Way of Greater Oswego County?s office at 315-593-1900.

All proceeds from the United Way?s Stone Soup Luncheon, as well as the food that is collected, will be donated to local food pantries including Human Concerns Center, Catholic Charities of Oswego County, and the Salvation Army of Oswego County.
